FOUNDER

Norman A. King

Norm began bricklaying in his early 20’s as a bricklaying apprentice. He worked “on the line” for several different companies, until he decided to branch out on his own in 1971 and started Norm King Construction. He gathered a few fellow friends who also knew the bricklaying trade and began doing small jobs such as steps, fireplaces and basements. As time went on, Norm recognized the need for larger equipment to complete larger projects and began accumulating the necessary provisions and machinery. In 1981 Norm King Construction was incorporated. For the next 20 years, Norm grew the business to become a sought after subcontractor providing masonry services in the commercial industries. In 2001, Norm officially retired, but unofficially likes to keep up with the happenings with the company.

David L. King, President

Dave remembers working along side his father, Norm King, at a very young age. With always a fireplace to complete, steps to finish, basements to dig, mud to mix and foundations to layout and build, much of his early years and college summers involved laboring for the small team of bricklayers employed at Norm King Construction. While attending college Dave recognized the opportunity to combine his business sense with his learned knowledge of bricklaying and completed a Bachelors Degree of Science in Construction Technology at Bowling Green State University. After graduating, Dave continued working with his father and took more of an interest in the front end of projects and helping out with estimating. Today, Dave is the company’s President and Estimator. Dave will seek out masonry projects and connect with general contractors, construction managers and owners. Dave tracks projects from the estimate to production to final completion and stewards the overall fiscal operations of Norm King Construction.

Michael S. King, Vice President

From the time he can remember, Mike worked along side his father, Norm King. There was always a job to help out with, basements to dig, mud to mix and foundations to layout and build. Much of his early years and summers in the teen years involved laboring for the small team of bricklayers his father employed. When it was time to decide a career path, Mike chose to continue the same path as his father and dove into the bricklaying trade. Along the way he accumulated much of the knowledge that is now the foundation of his 40+ years of experience in leading Norm King Construction. Today, Mike is the company’s Vice President and Project Coordinator. One can usually find him on site and intricately involved with the masonry construction processes with each project. He coordinates production schedules, crews and materials with project foreman and contractor representatives on a daily basis.

Karen M. Andrews, Treasurer

Karen is the daughter of Norm King. In Karen’s younger years she was always aware of her father’s “bricklaying” business and saw her brothers always out working with Dad.
Although she was not on site with her father and brothers, the family business was an
important part of her life. Karen attended the University of Akron and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting in 1991. At that time, she gathered accounting experience in the public accounting and the private nonprofit accounting sectors. In 2001 Karen joined Norm King Construction in a limited role to help with financial processes. Karen’s passion for the family business has continued to grow as well as her role in the company. Today, Karen is the Treasurer and Financial Director. Karen manages the accounting functions, budgeting and forecasting on a daily basis. Karen maintains, in conjunction with her brothers, the overall financial operations of the company.
